How To Deal With Negative People?

Negative people are all around us. They may be in our friend circle, in our family, or any other people we know. There is no place that is free of them. So we have no other option except to learn to deal with them. But how do we do that?

But first, let us try to understand why certain people behave the way they do. I'm sure you have heard the saying- 'Hurt people, hurt people'. This is one hundred percent true. People who are hurting tend to project it onto others as well. Although few people just tend to act superior to put others down, I like to believe that most of them are internally hurting already.

Maybe someone lost a loved one and became harsh, maybe someone was bullied and they turned into a bully, or maybe someone just had a bad day and didn't know how to handle their emotions well.

But that doesn't mean that you need to tolerate them. Not at all. Stand up to a bully when it is needed. But protect your energy at all costs. Here are a few ways you can handle negative people in your life:

1. Disengage: Even if they say something hurtful or are putting you down, let go. Do not engage in a conversation with a person who is clearly not vibrating at the same level as you are. This will stop them from continuing the conversation further and will save you a lot of energy.

2. Distance Yourself: I know this is sometimes hard if that person is a family member or a close friend. You can't completely cut them out of your life. But you can cut down the amount of time you spend with them.

3. Surround Yourself With More Positive People: For every negative person in your life, have three positive people whom you can spend time with. Engage in healthy conversations and make good use of your time.

4. Do Not Take It Personally: Do not overthink what a negative person said to you. Do not try to find truth in the hurtful comments. Let it go.

5. Do More Of What You Love: The more time you spend working on yourself, the less time you will have to worry about others. And spending time doing things you love will bring immense joy and positivity into your life and will also help you remain calm.

6. Be Kind: This is the most important thing. We never know what battles other people are fighting. Everybody's way of going through something is different. Show compassion and patience even when it seems like they do not deserve it. Kill em' with kindness.

Viewing the world and its people with kindness is the only way to not turn hateful. Even with a lot of negativity going around, you need to look at things in a certain way which will make it better for you. Remember that being hateful towards the person who hurt you is just going to ruin your energy.

Energy is the currency of the Universe. Spend it wisely.
