7 Tips To Kick-start Your Fitness Journey!

Most of us aspire to have a healthy body and routine, but we all know that it is easier said than done. Starting your fitness journey is easy,but sticking to it consistently, not so much. Here are a few tips which helped me in my fitness journey and I am hoping will help you too!

Fitness is a lot more than just shaping your body into an "ideal shape and size". No matter how cliche that sounds, it is true. Before you start your fitness journey, know that your body is beautiful and amazing just the way it is. The only reason you need to start working out is for yourself and your health, not to change your body into what society believes is the perfect shape or size.

With that out of our way, let's jump into the tips!




1.KNOW YOUR WHY:

Knowing your why is the first step in your fitness journey. Ask yourself the following questions;

Why do I want to start exercising? Why is it important for me to become fit?

There are no correct or wrong answers to these questions; they are just to make you understand your reasons for starting this for yourself. And your why will become the reminder for you to not give up when it gets tough. This is also one of the reasons you need to start this for yourself, because if you did not start it for yourself, you won't do it for long!

2.START SMALL:

The reason why many beginners give up after a short period of time is because they go all in at once. Starting with a full blown HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout will tire your body down quickly since it is not something you are accustomed to.

Start with small exercises, basic warm-ups,or yoga. Let your body gradually adjust to the changes that you are making and then build up your pace as you go.

3.TEN MINUTES FIRST:

Always start with a small amount of time and then gradually increase it as you build your stamina. Don't stress yourself about the duration of your workout. The important thing to keep in mind is that you started and that is what matters the most.




4.TRY VARIETIES:

Everybody's body type and needs are different, so try a variety of routines and workouts before you can decide on what suits you best. There are so many options to choose from and spice up your routine often.

My personal favorites are dance workouts or abs and core workouts. In the end, it is all about having fun while making the most of it.

5.PLAN YOUR WORKOUTS:

Planning your workouts basically means that you choose a part of the day that works best for you and you stick to it. Just because you are not a morning person, it shouldn't stop you from exercising.

It is up to you to decide a time for yourself where you can work out without other things stopping you.

6.CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY:

No matter what you start with, consistency is always the key. Motivation is fleeting, it comes and it goes, so consistency is what you need to focus on.

Stick to the time you decide on, on the routine you create for yourself and on showing up everyday. Even on your busy days at least commit ten minutes to move your body.

7.BE KIND TO YOURSELF:

Take a break when required and don't be too hard on yourself when you miss a day or two. It is hard to pick up a habit and as a beginner the main focus is to be consistent and enjoy this new journey you are taking up.

Be patient with yourself and your body, you'll get there!
