The physical changes and benefits of working out are not a secret. A firm body, healthier lifestyle and a stronger you. But do you also know the benefits of a fitness routine on your mental health?

And let me tell you one thing, the list is longgg.

Like I have said before, fitness is a lot more than just changing the shape or size of your body. I completely believe in the fact that your fitness journey changes your life. As hard as it may seem to start and continue on this journey, it is something that will keep you hooked if you fall in love with the process.

The feel good hormones:

According to webmd.com, endorphins are secreted from the pituitary glands after working out. Endorphins are analgesic in nature; i.e., they decrease the perception of pain in the body, similar to morphine.

People often feel a sense of euphoria after a good jog or run, all thanks to these hormones. So now you know that a "runner's high" is true after all.

Increased levels of confidence:

This is a very simple concept. When you feel good in your body, you feel good about yourself. When you fall in love with all your curves and edges, you glow as a person.

So basically, your confidence is directly proportional to how good you feel about yourself.

A calmer mind:

As you work out, you release a lot of pent-up energy from your body. All your negative emotions like anger, hurt and fear find an outlet when you work out and release this energy.

With all that negativity out of the way, you will definitely have a much quieter and calmer mind.

Healthy body=healthy mind

Reduced blood pressure, decreased levels of cholesterol and various other health benefits can be seen with a healthier lifestyle. A healthy body which secretes a balanced amount of hormones gives rise to a calmer and stress-free mind.

As the saying goes "A sound mind in a sound body".

Improved sleep:

Moderate to high intensity workouts are said to increase the duration of sleep and decrease sleep onset i.e., the time it takes for you to fall asleep. But if you are someone who works out at night, it is advised to do it at least two hours before you head to bed, so that the endorphins settle and you relax.

I mean, who doesn't want a good night's sleep, right? I definitely do!

Quality time with yourself:

Any activity you choose to do for yourself and with yourself, will bring in a sense of tremendous joy and fulfillment. It may not be just working out; it can be meditation, journaling, dancing , painting or anything you love for that matter.

I can never emphasize more on the fact that the time you spend with yourself is the most important thing. Always take some time out to fall in love with yourself, each and every day.

You'll never know if you never start!
